Teachers to PNoy: Justice for farmers and farm workers of Hacienda Luisita!

Teachers support exploited Filipino teachers in Louisiana

 

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) expressed support to more than 350 Filipino teachers in Louisiana, who filed charges against the placement agencies who have been collecting illegal fees, and threatened the teachers of sending them home if they resisted.

TEACHERS LAMENT DELAY IN THEIR SALARY INCREASE, DECRIES THAT P-NOY WAS FAVORED IN THIS SITUATION

“Public school teachers have not yet received their 2nd tranche of increase under the Salary Standardization Law III, or Republic Act No. 6758, France Castro, Secretary-General of ACT said.

It is already August 7, 2010 and the public school teachers have not yet received the second tranche of increase in their salaries.

Teachers oppose 12-year basic education program

Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) opposed the Department of Education (DepEd) 12-year basic education program.

ACT Secretary General France Castro said that adding years to the basic education program is not the solution to the crisis in Phil. Education. “We say NO to this plan being pushed by the DepEd and P-Noy. The 12- year basic education program will further deepen the chronic crisis of Philippine education which is caused and reflection of the chronic crisis of poverty and corrupt politics in the Philippines,” said Castro.

ACT Teachers Party-List files bill upgrading teachers' salaries

ACT Teachers Party-List today filed a bill in the House of Representatives mandating an increase in teachers' salaries. House Bill 2142, "The Public School Teachers' Salary Upgrading Act," raises the minimum salary grade level of public school teachers from Salary Grade 11 to Salary Grade 15.

Garcia should be the one prosecuted, not our congressman -- ACT

Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) deplore the continuing harassment and intimidation of former Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) President and General Manager Winston Garcia against ACT National Chairperson and ACT TEACHERS Partylist Representative Antonio L. Tinio.

What is taking P-Noy so long to remove GSIS President and General Manager Winston Garcia?

This is the million dollar question of the 30,000 strong members nationwide of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) to the new president .

It is more than a week now since President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III took his oath as the 15th Philippine president. So far, teachers and government employees have not yet heard anything from PNoy, not even a single word, about the burning issues of oppressive and exploitative policies of the GSIS headed by Winston Garcia.
