Teachers held a protest action in front of the Pasay City Hall of Justice this morning while Antonio Tinio, national president and first nominee of ACT TEACHERS Partylist, was arraigned for four counts of libel before the Pasay Regional Trial Court 119.

The ACT TEACHERS Partylist held a protest today at the main office of the Commission on Elections in Intramuros to denounce the poll body’s inaction on concerns that hundreds of thousands of public school teachers will be deprived of their right to vote in the May 2010 polls. Around thirty members of ACT TEACHERS Partylist held a sit-down protest in front of the main entrance of the COMELEC office, chanting slogans, carrying placards, and demanding an audience with COMELEC officials.

The ACT TEACHERS Partylist led a protest action this morning at the head office of the Government Service Insurance System in Pasay City.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) today called on the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to address the impending massive disenfranchisement of teachers this coming May 2010 election.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers today called on the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to provide teachers serving as election inspectors in the May 10 elections with training in the use of automated counting machines at the actual precinct sites where they will be deployed.

The ACT Teachers Partylist raised fresh concerns about the Commission on Election’s readiness to implement poll automation for the May 2010 elections after a failed field test in two schools in Taguig this morning.

The largest party of teachers in the Philippines, ACT Teachers Partylist is now accredited to run for the May 2010 elections, along with 144 other partylists, according to Resolution No. 8744 released by the Commission on Elections yesterday.
